UltraVPN Review for Japan

UltraVPN is a relatively new VPN service managed by the UK-based Network Protect. Founded in August 2018, this service has grown explosively. Today the company has more than 35 employees and is growing rapidly.

UltraVPN is the average service among various VPN services. UltraVPN offers a robust service but has yet to offer sophisticated services like NordVPN and ExpressVPN. However, it still is excellent for accessing oversea content from Japan, and even for obtaining Japanese content while overseas.

More so, in terms of price, UltraVPN is much cheaper than these other services. UltraVPN offers a more robust pricing than most VPN services on the market today. This test looks at the key elements of UltraVPN, including the level of server speed, number of servers, quality of servers in each country, security level, ease of use, price, etc.

Speed

It is normal for speed to reduce when using all VPNs. This is because, to change the IP address, all traffic has to go through an external router before it reaches the internet. Security and privacy

For logs, UltraVPN-owned Network Protect LLC. is based in the US and UK. This might not necessarily be a good sign. This is because these countries have strict surveillance rules.

However, UltraVPN claims that it does not log user traffic and does not leak user data. VPN services that log traffic are not useful because users use VPN services to avoid monitoring.

We felt that UltraVPN provided insufficient information about their logging policy. I didn’t find any specific information about it even though I didn’t log it. I felt that this is so important that it should be made clearer.

Regarding security, UltraVPN has a solid security function. It provides the same level of 256-AES encryption as military security in many countries. Further, it also provides a kill switch that works excellently, making sure that you can use your IP address even if your VPN connection is interrupted and your internet connection is lost. On these two counts, the quality of service provided by UltraVPN should be sufficient for users both within Japan and even those streaming Japanese content from outside of the country.

UltraVPN is cheap. Most VPN services offer different prices depending on how long you use the service, UltraVPN also offers this. Prices vary depending on your 1-month, 6-month, or 1-year purchasing plan.

UltraVPN showed good results in our tests. This service is relatively new. Nonetheless, it has already grown to be able to offer services that include high speed, good security protocols, relatively good usability and features, at relatively low cost. UltraVPN is recommended for users who need a powerful VPN service at a low price. If you want to use the best service at a slightly higher price, we recommend more established services such as ExpressVPN and NordVPN.
